Wendy has been involved in many aspects of art since graduating from Design School at Wellington Polytechnic in 1981 and working freelance as an illustrator for advertising and publishing.
She has illustrated many children’s books, the best known being the award-winning Grandpa’s Slippers series.
As the world turned toward computers she turned to sculpture and painting - preferring a hands on approach to art - carving Oamaru stone and painting anything from stones to murals.
This included creating the artwork in the HDC building and co-creating the dragon sculpture at Te Takere.
Wendy has painted many murals around town and recently completed a degree in Social Work at Te Wananga o Aotearoa which has informed her work on community mural projects; painting with kids and adults in local parks and at the Community Garden in Foxton.
Her love of the beach, the river, the trees and the spirit which flows through all of creation is what inspires most of her work.
